January
We were excited to appear before the Washoe County Board to propose the possible use of the old Black Spring Fire Station as the Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum.
We also began our journey of helping the Hillside Cemetery Preservation Foundation with research and grounds upkeep.
February
OSI arranged guest speaker during Black History Month for the Sierra Nevada Girl Scout Troop.
April
Awarded Tiffany Young the OSI's First Annual Walk the Walk Talk the Talk Award.
July
In collaboration with Intuit OSI donated $500 to the Hillside Cemetary Project to go toward the upkeep of African American grave sites.
December
OSI Officially went into contract with Washoe County to acquire possession of historic Black Springs fire house for 5 years with the intention of making it the Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum.
