What is Our Story, Inc.?
Our Story, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. We gather and share history of Northern Nevada’s unsung and provide links to other organizations that focus on untold or rarely shared history of people in Northern Nevada.
We are incorporated to:
- Collect, preserve, exhibit, interpret and perpetuate the heritage and culture of people whose history is not well represented whose lives interact with and has contributed to the Communities of Northern Nevada
- Arrange exhibitions and safekeeping of artifacts, media and manuscripts relating to the heritage, culture and contributions of Northern Nevada Minorities.
- Provide educational opportunities that are seldom offered to students, scholars and the general public to learn more about Northern Nevada’s rich minority history.
- Work with other institutions and individuals to identify, study, preserve, exhibit and communicate artifacts, media, manuscripts and other information regarding Northern Nevada minority history makers.
Who makes Our Story, Inc. happen?
A small dedicated group of volunteers, Board members and the Administrative Coordinator, dedicate time and effort to keep Our Story, Inc. mission alive and progressing by regularly conducting interviews, updating our various medias, exhibiting and gathering documents/artifacts.
Do you gather stories on all of Nevada or just Northern Nevada?
We focus mainly on Northern Nevada, but occasionally will come across information or items that reflect what occured in Southern Nevada.
What kind of information can I find on your site?
You will find information on unsung individuals and long forgotten events that helped to positively shape what our community and region is today. You will also find lesson plans, maps, photos and videos as well.
How can I help? What kind of help are you looking for?
Our Story, Inc. welcomes help with gathering, identifing, organizing and displaying information we aquire.
We also welcome contributions of artifacts, media, verbal memories, documents, photos, memorabilia, manuscripts, official court records involving civil rights cases, private notes, correspondence, journals, scrapbooks, film, video, DVD, audio tape, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, miscellaneous printed media, and other information regarding the heritage, culture, contributions and achievements of Northern Nevada minority history makers.

What kind of sources do you use?
We use indiviuals, documents, books, websites, photos, family histories, church histories, articles, audio recordings, film/video footage…..etc.
